NSABP B-35: A Clinical Trial to Compare Anastrozole and Tamoxifen for Postmenopausal Patients with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ Undergoing Lumpectomy with Radiation Therapy Julian TB, Land SR, Wolmark N Breast Diseases: A Year Book Quarterly 2003;14(2):121-122 Abstract Results from 2 previous trials by the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) have clarified several controversial issues about the nature of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and have provided alternative approaches for managing this disease. The B-17 trial compared outcomes among women with DCIS treated with lumpectomy vs with lumpectomy plus radiation therapy; the B-24 trial evaluated the addition of tamoxifen to lumpectomy plus radiation therapy. |
